Under belly replacement

While traveling I noticed the plastic underbelly had torn loose and was dragging under the camper. That protected the wiring that was hanging down. I zip tied the wiring out of the way and removed some of the underbelly. My question is how to replace the insulation and plastic. Is it something I can do or will it need to go to a dealer? Thanks

Of course it is something you can do. The chloroplast is simply screwed on with self tapping screws. A couple of mine had worked loose whereupon I simply replaced them with what I had lying around. In one instance, the screws holding on my sewer hose tube were replaced with nuts and bolts!

I just replaced mine - a few tricks to hold it up. I posted a thread on the GD teck site.

Link?

Could you provide the link to the GD Tech post? We’re about to have to do this after a water hose popped off under ours and soaked (we’re assuming) the insulation. At the very least we need to check.
Thank you.

Sorry - Posting a link to that site is not allowed here. Need to respect this site owners wishes.

However its easy to find. Just go to the Main Grand Design Web Page and look under support for the technical forum. Then use the search feature.

There are also good tips over at IRV2. Also a few good U-Tube videos and not so good ones too

But to save you some time the trick I learned to keep the coroplast in place while you fasten up use a 2x4 full width and a second one running length wise in the center. You need to have the center snug up to get things on the edge to re-attach. Use clamps at the frame edge or jacks to hold the boards in place. I used wood working clamps. The trick is to work side to side as you move along the trailer. Sometimes a good set of vice grips help you pull the coroplast into position while it is held up by the boards. The coroplast was originally installed with the frame upside down.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the helpful info.

I've cut my belly cover into 4' sections. New wood 2x2s form attachment places.

It's easy to remove or replace a section.
