Underpowered Awning Cause?

Hello, recently I've noticed our awning struggles to extend and retract. It's a 21' awning on the Imagine XLS 25 DBE. Not only does it extend like a slog but it doesn't have the power to get it started once extended so I've had to "spin" the rail slightly to give it a helping hand, which gets the awning moving and the motor takes it from there.

Also, on our last trip we stopped after 2 hrs and while doing my normal walkaround prior to moving again, I noticed the awning was "open" about 1-2". The awning itself looked correct and nested but the support bars on each end, one side looked open 1-2" and the other looked correctly closed. I'm wondering if whatever (the motor) is struggling to retract the awning is also failing to keep it in the closed position during commutes.

Has anyone dealt with anything similar? Thank you.

Our Solera awning never did close 100 %, even after replacing a motor at the factory while it was there for something else. Maybe it's normal because it's never unraveled while driving on the freeway in the many yeaars we have had it

I notice i need to lube the moving parts every once in a wile, seems to help, as everything moves smoother. that includes the roller ends. The struts can wear or go out and show no signs, the only real way to check them is to disconnect and check.

On my ‘24 Solitude they extend at a reasonable rate, but you can almost get lunch or drink a cup of coffee as they come back in. Should there be a pop up storm or sudden high winds I’d be in trouble as it wouldn’t come in fast enough to avoid damage. They both close flush as they should.

Since it extends like normal I figured it to be just how it is.

Sounds to me like you may have a problem with the motor. If it struggles to even start rolling back in without your help, that's pretty suspect. Our is slow, but it is consistently slow without struggling to start at any point. Also wonder if the fact that it unfurls a couple of inches when going down the road is indicative of a motor problem as the properly working motor is the only thing that would hold it tight to the trailer?
