Found water on the floor behind the toilet, didn't notice it right away but further investigation found the vacuum breaker leaking water out the top of it. Didn't leak until flushing the toilet. The thing with an RV is, you have to be constantly checking things for problems, when you notice something, check it out. Water leaks can be devastating to an rv.
Researching a replacement vacuum breaker part found it costs @ $15 from various websites. This is the second time we have had issues (different) with the toilet. Other factors taken into consideration caused us to decide to replace the whole toilet. Plastic base porcelain bowl. Found a replacement on sale locally for $202, pretty good price we thought. Came with hold down bolts, seal and caps and comes with a soft close toilet seat. 45 minutes to install a water line shutoff valve and replace the toilet and done. Found on the piece of water line I cut out to install the shutoff valve interior rust stains. That can really reduce the life of water appliances. We do have a water softener but didn't have it for the first couple years of ownership and now that we have one, when regenerating I add some Iron Out.
Just another day of RV fulltime ownership.
Our rig is 5 years old now and things are starting to break or wear out. I have read that @ the 5 year mark for fulltimers is when things start to wear out and some appliances need rebuilt or replaced. . Don't know if that's true but for us it appears to be.
Oh, the vacuum breaker just keeps black water from back flowing into the fresh water system.
