I am planning to install a third brake light. Most likely this one.

If you have installed a third, center mounted light I would appreciate any photo(s) you have.

Thanks.

Is there a source for the Bargman lights? I found a couple on Amazon, but the source linked above says 404 error. I tried Bargman directly, and got only one simple trailer light, looks like for a utility trailer. Amazon has other brands available, though.

My trailer doesn't have an electrical connection at the back since there is no bumper. I'm thinking that, for now, just putting larger lights on in place of the dinky ones the factory used would help. I think I may have access to the backside of the tail lights if I pull the couch and end tables out. That may let me add a horizontal light just below the rear window.

I guess my first question is why? Aren't the tail lights enough? Ours are LED and very bright, even in daylight. Not trying to be obnoxious here, just curious.

I carry bikes on the back. I cover them. So it is possible someone may not see the tail lights. So I want a high mounted brake light. Just an additional way to keep very distracted drives off my bumper when coming to a stop.

Saw those. Was hoping to see more, especially a third brake light. I already have extra tail lights. When I put those on I made provisions for a third light, I have one that will just stick on (about 36" long); just hesitating before I poke another hole in the rig.

The tail lights on our trailer aren't all that large, and the right one is behind the ladder. When I get around to changing mine I'm also going to convert the side running lights into combination turn signal/running lights. Yes, that means running a bit of wire. Not a problem.

Somewhere along the years GD changed to slim tail lights that I always were too small. I had a somewhat larger light but considering how big that rear is I added a few more. that's when I prewired for a 3rd light. After all these years I am finally ready to put one in.

I have a write up of what I did at this link.

I was informed from a friend who was driving behind me that my bikes blocked my signals so I installed this strip. It works well and also has a reverse feature which lights up white if you run a wire to it. Much better now. It’s nice because you can plug it into the trailer wire on the back of the rig. This one also has turn signals as well.

How long have you had this light strip mounted on your RV and how well has it performed? I'm looking to something similar but can't decide on which light strip to purchase. I want to run 1 vertically up each side right next to the plastic corner molding. It will require me to cut & splice the L&R turn signal wires together in each strip and attach them to the proper color wire on each side.

It’s been there for 8 months and works very well. You can connect to the wires that go to the trailer harness under the bumper. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0C1MZ6S63?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title
These connectors are waterproof and work well.

I hit a snag today installing my high mount 3rd light. I failed to realize that there is no dedicate "STOP" signal wire; instead it is a combined left and right turn that get turned on (presumably in the truck as there is no "STOP" wire in the 7 pin connector.

So back to the drawing board. I very likely will end cup with a vertical strip on each side.

Oof. Yes you need a light that is capable of handling the running light/brake light function. What light are you using?

I'm using this light. It is meant to mount to the inside of a rear window but I reversed the sticky side. I mounted it today.

And I ordered this today to convert a 2 wire arrangement to a 3 wire circuit. I'll get it installed in about 10 days (heading out to a GD rally in Sarasota next week).
