I wanted an easier and more permanent water filtration system in my 2800BH. After researching many systems costing upwards of $500, i realized that I could build my entire system for about $200. With this system you can use any standard 2.5" x 10" filters in any configuration you choose.

i will say this could have been done cheaper with flexible hose and hose clamps, but I like to make things more complicated.

Filter System - $110

Pressure Regulator - $25

Pex adapters, fittings and accessories - (Lowes) $50

Install time 90 minutes

Good morning, Jason!

I appreciate you sharing your water filtration pics above. I have been thinking about doing something similar once we get settled at a campground for an extended period. Great job by the way, very neat and professional looking.
I have a question for you does it help with the water taste at all?
Thanks,
John & Kim

I did make a difference, although I have not camped in any place that has really bad water. I also have the RecPro Water softener that I put in line at the hook up, that does make a big difference when the water is hard. I still use bottled water in the ice machine but otherwise i have no issues drinking from the tap.

Awesome, Thank you!!

Thanks for posting this, Jason. Kind of sorry I paid so much for ClearSource and was buying their filters. Going to have to examine where and which filters to use going forward.

Well, on the plus side, if you like the clear source filters they are a standard filter and you can use in other systems like this one. Alternatively, you can use other filters in the clear source most likely.

I have found that there are literally 100's of filters out there, So I guess it is figuring out which ones you prefer. for me these seem to do what they need and remove the taste. I am considering trying the set that adds alkalinity to the water.

Thanks so much for the pictures, a great help. Can you tell me the type of filters you used? Are any reverse osmosis?
Thanks

Sorry, also, how does this affect your pressure at the tapes?

I did something similar 2 years ago and love it!
Only 1 filter (dirt level), on my input. A better one at the sink. Single filter holders are very inexpensive!

Note: We were out almost 6mo this year and I saw some film build up at the end. Since 2x10 filters are "whole house size" I knew we wouldn't clog them. But a 3mo clean out is probably in order.

Nice build, Jason! What fitting did you use to connect the pex to the garden hose? I haven’t found a fitting that looks sturdy enough.

I decided to put the pressure regulator in-line after the garden hose so the garden hose went into that, and then at lowes I got a 3/4" pex to GHT to come out of the regulator into the pex. I also used this on the city / tank inlet so it is all brass. Here is a link to the same fitting on Amazon.

I don't recommend using any of the PVC / Plastic versions of the adapter and such, they break easier and I feel the crimp of the PEX to brass is much more secure.
