My water line to the toilet is leaking at the fitting. Its the vinyl line that has a pex crimp on it. I want to fix it, but I don't know if I should put another pex crimp on it or something else. I see some videos that state that you should not use pex crimps on vinyl hoses. I am considering using Flair-it fittings. Has anyone had experience with them?

I had the same leak on my LDE. I don't have any experience with flair-it-fittings, I just had the dealer address it next time I was in. I believe they said they just replaced the fitting.

Yep, same leak on ours. I switch out the plastic fittings to brass pex every time I have to work on something. Also, I install shut off valves while I'm at it for each faucet, toilet, etc.. However, I have reused the vinyl tubing without any problem. I have always used the pex rings vs cinch rings. My method is to cut the end of the tubing off so that I have a clean (non-deformed) end to work with. I heat it with a heat gun which makes it easier to get the ring onto the vinyl (still needs some force though), then I crimp the ring onto the fitting. Having the tubing heated makes it more pliable and I believe helps it conform better to the fitting. Haven't had a leak yet on any of the fittings I've redone over the years on various RVs.

I decided to upgrade the toilet while I was at it and put in an elongated model, boy is that nice compared to the OEM version.

Here's a good tool that helps you get into tighter spaces and the rings I'm referring to in case you want to take a look:

You have read correctly that PEX clamps should not be used on flex hose. Unfortunately, it's an industry-wide problem. I use aircraft type hose clamps when I have to removed the PEX clamps from flex hose. The best approach is to replace all flex hose with PEX - but that's a huge undertaking.

BTW - welcome to the forum! You can create a signature block with your RV and tow vehicle information (see mine below). That way you won't have to repeat that information whenever you post or ask a question - and others won't have to ask. You can create a signature by going to:

I have used the flair-it fittings for the bathroom sink. The crimp fitting just leaked. My Budd does RV repair and swears by them. It's a tight fit getting the outside collar over the flex hose but tight and no leaks. also no special tools needed. I bought extra for when the others fail.

Hope this helps,
