My wife noticed water marks on the stove section of our kitchen counter for the 2nd time. I’m assuming that the water is coming from around the window but I’m not sure where to start. I felt around the rubber trim outside and it seems to be tight. Any suggestions would be helpful…Thanks. I’m including some pics.

I'll suggest the window is leaking; and water is getting behind that luan wall board, soaking down, and collecting on the counter.

Time to pull that window out, check for how much damage and then reinstall (with proper sealing).

You might want to look under the sink too and see what is happing down there.

traveldawg This camper is killing me. Okay..I’ve never taking a window out like that but it shouldn’t be to bad, I’m thinking. I just thought of something, maybe it’s leaking from the roof line. I’ll let you guys know what I find. Thanks

Jazzman,

Here of what I would do…

With a helper inside the camper, spray different areas of the window with a light spray to simulate rain. Your helper can observe and see if it comes in.

You can also feel the wood surrounding the window on the interior to help guide extent of potential damage.

You can also visually inspect the window seal for obvious areas or even not so obvious areas of leaking.

Take lots of pictures and do your best to determine the source of the leak before you remove the window.

Good Luck,
Bill

I'll bet you can remove the interior trim without taking the window all the way out. Just be sure someone is on the outside holding it in when you remove the interior trim.

traveldawg I just took the interior trim off and everything looks solid but it was wet on the bottom lower right hand corner. I had my wife spray water and I’m not seeing any water come in.

Did you spray all around?

Also, if in fact the windows is not leaking, that means it’s migrating from somewhere else, and those can be very tough to find.

Methodically spray different areas and see if it gets wet.

Another thought as well, do you have an icemaker? Check the water line for that.

Thanks for the update. You probably want to use a hose with a pretty strong stream and start low and work your way all the way to the top of the RV.

I suppose it could be from condensation as someone else mentioned. The window would have to be pretty wet tho.

If the lower right hand was wet, could it have come down the side of the window from further up the RV.

Water leaks are so hard to detect. You just have to keep at it I suppose.

traveldawg Your Welcome…I’m going to use more water pressure and do what u suggested tomorrow. I think it’s coming from up above. I thought it was possible it was from the condensation until I removed the inside trim and found the water puddled up on the bottom right hand side.

Most Windows have a tiny weep hole for condensation to drip off to the outside, make sure it's not plugged. Good luck with hunting it down .

Before pulling the window, investigate the wall exhaust for your microwave.

Update - Thanks to all your help we found where the leak was coming from. It was a crack in the microwave exhaust vent. It looks like the screw was overtightened. I included some pics so everyone could see. Btw, the crack looks much bigger and wider after you zoom in on the pic…lol. The last pic is after I silicones it…it doesn’t look pretty but it won’t leak. Thanks again

Glad you got it figured out before any real damage happened!

Thanks for updating this and sharing the fix.

Good call by geotex1 too for suggesting a check of that vent.

I thought I had resolved, but it keeps returning. I had caulked the top of the window just to be safe and removed the vent trim for the microwave and reinstalled it with plenty of silicone. I even took a garden hose and ran it over the top of the slide out, thinking that it might’ve been through there somehow. I found it hard to believe that it would be seeing that it has the awning over it, but I just wanted to rule it out. Where could this possibly be coming from? It only seems to be happening when the slide out is out
