What did you do to your Grand Design today?

Talked with a salesman about trading it for a Jayco.
I went the other way. They make good trailers too. I’ve had 2 of theirs.
I inspected the roof yesterday. All of it looks great. I had Roof Armor do their thing in June.
Here is the view from up on top. We are hosting at Fort Stevens Historic Site ( Oregon State Park )
It's a panoramic photo

I’ve got a little roof envy. Seems like money well spent for peace of mind and longevity.

Hunting for a slooowwww hydraulic leak down
friend of mine had an issue with a slow leaking hydraulic issue. Found out it wasn't a leak, it was the type of fluid. Had to change out all the fluid and put in a different kind.
I sent him a text to see if he can give me some more info, I will send it when I get it.
in the meantime, do some checking on settling hydraulic systems for rv leveling jacks.

he said he had to use Cat Hydraulic Additive.
do some checking on it, may resolve your issue if there isn't a leak.
good luck

Might also physically check the hoses themselves. I had a hose that was crazed, and fluid would actually leak out THROUGH the hose itself. If you curved the hose, you could actually see the fluid coming out through the cracks. Luckily it was a relatively short hose, and easy to change.

I think I have it tracked down but I was going to put in some additive that I just got delivered from amazon anyway. I got tricked into thinking that if the coach was drifting out of level, it has to be the jacks or the valves to them. I checked those out and all was good. Then I noticed it only happens when the slides are out. I verified the Hydac valve to the slide was good. I then pulled all the slides in and then closed all the needle valves to the slides except one and moved the slide all the way out. I did it for each slide, one by one, waiting a day or two in between. The level only drifted if I had the bunkhouse slide out with only that needle valve open. I'm guessing I've got some internal leak by in the bunkhouse slide cylinder (I'm not losing fluid so no external leaks). I am going to try the additive to see if that helps. If not I'll have to decide if it's worth the trouble to drop the chloroplast and replace it. Wouldn't you know the bunkhouse was the last one I tested. When I opened the needle valve after closing the other two, the slide moved a little so I suspected that would be it.

By the way, I do appreciate your input though. Who knows, this may still not be it.

Nice troubleshooting!

It's always in the last place you look, if Murphy showed up, it will be the most difficult as too!

Out of an abundance of laziness had Blue Beacon give it and my truck a bath. Had them keep their distance with the sprayers and primarily use the brushes. Looks great. 20 mins front to back and then 25 mins at highway speed to dry it off.

Set a record for best warranty repair time at a dealership yesterday.

Pulled in and a little over an hour later left with my trailer after getting the bedroom windows replaced. They didn’t line up correctly so one window would keep the other from opening or closing correctly.

That's amazing, even with an appointment things usually don't go that fast.
What dealership?

McClains in Fort Worth, TX. They’ve done well for me overall during this warranty year.

For this, I measured everything and sent photos of the window ID stickers. They did all the rest with GD, ordered the parts, and then made the appt. Much better than leaving it for a few weeks while they diagnose, wait for approval, wait for parts etc. This is how it should always go if the unit is otherwise usable.

I agree.
That's great that McClains did what they should do. There are so many that don't, even when holding their hand. I have had to call GD after talking to the dealer and make sure that a work order was even created. Sometimes; it was not.

Safe travels, KEN

Secured my love seats to the floor and installed some screws at the back too so that if I get up when the leg rest is extended the whole thing doesn’t fall forward.

Also re-secured the back wall in the washer/dryer closet.

Last, since I’m solo(dog got sick so wife and kid stayed back) and it’s clear skies I disconnected from shore power to see how the solar and batteries do. Running the kitchen fan, some lights, the inverter(2000w), Starlink, and streaming music through the TV to the RF speakers. Ran the awnings and on board vacuum. Found this thing to use about 90 AH today so far. Assuming my math to be correct on 1.1kwh harvested so far. Also didn’t turn the fridge to the lower off grid temp.

Sure I’d do better with the fridge set lower, no Starlink and inverter off.

Greased the wet bolts again...of course 2 or 3 seem sketchy on taking in grease.
I need to do mine again. Heard some creaking as I unhooked after the last trip and was lowering the front to level.

I absolutely hate this job. I can’t do it without getting grease all over the gun, my hands etc. laying on the gravel under the trailer is no fun either.

"laying on the gravel under the trailer is no fun either."

That's the reason I have my zerks on the outside. Too old to be crawling around on the ground. :)

Changed tow vehicles. My F450 was built and shipped, picked it up today, sold the Silverado last week. I'd post a picture, but for whatever reason, I'm still unable to post pictures.
How long did it take from order to pick up? My 450 has been on order over 3 months and still not in the production line yet. I'm sure the time differs from year to year.
