What did you do to your Grand Design today?

Today, prepped for mobile welder, tomorrow hopefully, to weld 4 cracks in the frame in the suspension areas, 2 on each side.
Jacked it all up, installed jack stands, removed all tires/rims, removed needed screws to look behind welding areas of under belly, ground paint off, pre drilled end of cracks. Dont have a grinder with me, so he will be grinding out cracks then do welding.
When done. Ill clean up, paint and undo all did stuff.
If not tomorrow/Saturday, Sunday it is, he might have to work tomorrow on another job.

Now, today....
Cleaned up the welds, painted, put the screws back in the under cover, put the wheels back on.

Wile looking over the under covering, before buttoning it up. I notice what would be the fresh tank heated pad, for the tank heater... Seems to be a 10 inch by 14 inch pad, put on the back left side corner area.... Of a 52 gallon tank.
The heater hoses running about, seem like they do/would loose a lot of heat from being under there, not insulated, the hoses or the very under side coroplasic stuff.

Put in a new kitchen faucet although I still need adapters to connect the water lines to the existing plumbing fittings (on order from Amazon). The existing faucet lever was really loose so it was easy to accidentally turn it on and thus water everywhere. I bought preowned and I don’t think it was the original faucet.

Mapped out the wiring on the 12V bus. Now I know exactly what the battery cutoff cuts off and what it doesn’t. And what each auto reset fuse feeds.

Installed RV Snap Pads for the scissor jacks on my RV. Also, installed the Beech Lane Wireless RV Leveling System...game changer! Upgraded the mattress to an 8" gel-cool mattress. Modding continues!

I didn't like all the living space lights being on one switch so to my surprise when I pulled the panel I observed the left slide, the right slide, and the center ceiling lights were on seperate wires bundled to 1 switch. So I ordered from Amazon spare switches and added 2, a left & right slide. Then split the wires accordingly and wired them up. Now I can leave just the left small slide with 2 LED puck lights on at night. Or turn off the center lights so it's darker for TV viewing.

Next mission since I had extra switches leftover, I pulled the garage switch panel and added a switch to power the 2 cameras (interior/exterior) without having the trailers parking lights on. But the cameras still are powered if the parking lights are powered. To accomplish this I wired in a diode resistor so that the switch when on does not back feed the lighting.

Our Reflection is in the shop for new brakes (well, one new brake), new springs & shackles and overall check up before heading out for our 4 month trip this summer.

Oh, and our truck got new tires all the way around.

Repacked my wheel bearings and inspected brakes. Rotated tires while I had them off.

Waxed/ceramic coated the whole rig a few weeks ago (it took a week).

fwiw - last week helped a friend remove standard suspension and installed Roadmaster Slipper Spring system including shocks on his SOB 5th wheel. Those new springs sure looked nice compared to what came off. I was impressed with the system. (same friend helped me with the repack today)

We just purchased the new model 2300MK. We’ve RVd before but in a motor home STORM. This is going to be a very interestingly different camping experience. Any suggestions as far as simply loading it up for a small weekend trip? Think we’ll do that before we take a week or two weeks out. I did have them install a 3000 watt inverter. I have two 2500 watt generator/inverter’s at home. Any chance I’ll need one of them?

We travel with 2 Honda generators. You never know - the RV park may lose power one night (that's happened to us twice in 8 years). We also boondock often, so a generator is a must. We also have solar (installed my my handy husband).

According to my husband, yes, you should take your generator. A 3000 watt inverter will use up your batteries very quickly.

Looked at the pink slushy my antifreeze made in the toilet. No…I didn’t drink it.

And measured my kitchen sink drain to order a replacement of some sort. Fancy sink won’t hold water.

Also, measured the distance between pin box bolts. I had it raised after I first got it. Last trip out I made contact with the truck bed. So I was considering lowering it. Already have my B&W in the mid position. I have 6” clearance at the back and 6.5-7 towards the front of the cap. It was the front of the cap that made contact. The trim piece that runs along the bottom. I’ll probably just leave it as is. Already a bit nose high. Just a couple tiny divets in the plastic bed rails at the corners. Guess the truck is broken in now.

I'd be interested in hearing how that is working for you in month or two. My wife and I like what we saw online and have been trying to get the time for the two hour trip to the dealer to look at one. If we decide to replace our 22MLE with a 2300MK it would be next year sometime.

Today some travel prepping, tomorrow, put slide in and winterize for my trip from the gulf coast of Texas to very, very northern Minnesota, on Monday.
If its not going to be hot in the south, i might as well be up north.

Changed my lug nuts to solid one piece. Greased wet bolts with new pneumatic grease gun. Treated tires and added tire covers.

@coglesby
Can I ask what brand you used for the solid lug nuts? I've been looking at getting some but, for now, decided I would just carry a few spares in case one of the existing capped ones gets messed up.

Thanks.
