What happened with AC?

Had my central 15K unit on Auto. Had my 13.5K bedroom unit on low fan. Both thermostats set at 73 and the RV was plenty cool in direct sun (about 94 outside). Then the main unit would sound like the compressor was trying to kick on, but nothing out of the fan. Would kind of hum for about 10 minutes or so. Then stop. Sometimes would kick on fan and compressor for the next cycle, sometimes not. I played with controls and when I put the Tstat on HIGH fan (not auto) it would come on and run fine. The next day, back to auto and ran okay. Not as hot outside. I am back home and it is running fine on auto. I am wondering if it froze due to the heat and trying to run constantly. Does not make sense why it would run on high fan though. Any thoughts?

If it’s a Furrion a/c there are numerous threads and posts on here regarding its shortcomings.

Evap might have frozen and the freeze sensor shut the compressor down until defrosted and then allowed restart. Then repeat that cycle. Try running only 1 unit if you have a ducted system or open dump damper on 1 unit. Very high humidity can be a problem on multiple ducted units. Not enough air flow across the evaporator.

I have found that not running the A/C on auto, but instead keep fan running constantly (and letting compressor cycle) is a good way to assure a good flow of air across the evaporator and avoid an ice build up.

Makes sense based on what happened as well.

They are Dometic. The search feature on this site is frustrating at best.

Multiple units or multiple ducts? Why would air flow be different with either? Meaning because there are 2 units the cycle is shorter? I kind of understand HVAC, but not really. I assume you mean there is not enough flow by due to each unit sending to multiple ducts and encountering more turbulence than the dump. I am planning on customizing both units (making a DIY RV Airflow) next week while camping. Would improving that possibly help the flow too and make freeze up less likely? Just trying to get folks thoughts. I have only had single units and non of them have been ducted.

Hmm. Curious. I’ve had 4 RVs with Dometic dual ducted A/Cs and never had a problem. Maybe an installation goof?
