What? No 12v Outlets?

Okay, so we were dry camping for the weekend and I searched high and low and couldn't find a cigarette lighter style 12v outlet to plug my cell phone charger in. I had to charge it in the the truck overnight. My last trailer had 3; 1 at each TV location including the crawl through storage space. Am I just missing it?

:) . . . Went through the same search with the same result.
This is our first RV, so I thought maybe this is a normal "RV thing".
We have them everywhere on our boat since we "dry camp" all the time. Admittedly, a bit of an odd term for being at anchor on a boat !
I have purchased several marine outlets that are on the "to be installed" RV list.

Yea, I too was disappointed there were no 12v outlets in my 2014 Reflection 337.
I understand even the Reflections come standard with an USB charger now though.
I'll probably install one or more 12v outlets myself.

Well that's interesting because mine was just built a few weeks ago and I couldn't find any USB outlets! Maybe I need to contact GD Customer Support and see where they're hidden.

Did you look under the cabinets on the wall for the bathroom?

As you come in the entry door, the "hutch" on the right side. There is usually a 12 volt and charging station under those cabinets.

On the right side, I think...

Nope, nothing there. There's 2 standard 110 outlets on the back wall of the hutch and a switch with 3 rockers to operate lights and the kitchen fan under the top set of cabinets but nothing else.

When I received my 337, I searched too, and finally contacted GD for advice. They indicated there was a USB port on the Furrion stereo system that could be used for charging phones. I tried it, but for some reason, I couldn't get the power on the USB to stay on for more than a few minutes.

My solution was to order a 12V/USB docking station off of Amazon (see link below) and install it in the cabinet to the right of the stereo system. I drilled a small hole in the panel between the compartments, cut the wire to the docking station, and spliced it into the power for the stereo. If you'd like to do the same thing and have any questions, drop me a line.

That's a reasonable solution but I am installing a 2000 W Pure Sine Wave inverter that will be powering the outlets in that area anyway so I'll just have to wait a bit and I guess my problem will be solved. i'm having a 3600 W LP Onan next month so I will do the inverter at the same time. Still amazes me that a trailer at this level wouldn't have at least one from the factory though :(

Our Solitude has the 12v you described under the under the upper cabinet immediately across from the entry door. There are light switches, 110 outlet and the 12v style. Is this jst a Solitude thing? Maybe move your question to the Tech section.

Our 2015 Reflection 303RLS has 2 USB ports on headboard, curb side. I know this wouldn't apply to everyone with bedslides but it is another place to look.

No, others with Reflections say they have them. I think they were just forgot on mine. Not a huge deal though, I will soon have my inverter in there and I won't need to worry about it.

No USB outlets on our 2015 303RLS built May 2014. . . I just checked.
There is a shore power outlet on each side of the bed at the headboard.

I am pretty sure we have 110 outlets as well, I think I will pick up those outlets from Lowes or Home Depot that have built in USB and swap them out. On my list of to do things.....

Back to the origin of this thread . . . The problem is lack of 12V outlets for powering things when shore power is not available. USB / 120V outlets won't solve this.

Rob

Our unit has no 12V outlets either. I just wired one into the basement to power a 12V cooler and will be looking to put one inside as well. The Furion sound system is 12V and its USB port will charge devices if the system is turned on.

Our new 303 has a panel in the side of the hutch cabinet. Seems to me it would be fairly simple to pull the panel and tie in a 12v plug which you could mount in the underside of the cabinet facing down.

We do also have the twin USB ports up by the headboard. Seems this might have been a mid model addition as some do and some don't.

Thanks for the thread, giving me some good ideas. :)
