Getting ready to order a new Grand Design 5th wheel and was wondering about when the factory switches from 2016 to 2017 model year?

Right about now actually...I took delivery of my '15 on Easter weekend of '14. I was told it would be a '14 when I ordered it(March 19), and it came in as a '15(April 17).

That's interesting....My wife and I will probably be ordering this week with a 7 to 9 week delivery time. So you think we will be getting a 2017? Hmmm...I think I like that!:D

I took delivery of a 2016 Momentum 388m on 5-May-2015. Dealer claimed it was the first run of 2016s.

Why not just call GDRV and ask them? It is likely a different date for different models/assembly plants . . . and likely not a secret.
(I'm not sure that I would trust a dealer's version of the answer to this question . . . )

While I find it interesting that the model year has minimal relation to the calendar year, it doesn't matter much. GD will make changes throughout the year when they find something that works better. That's what counts for me.

I agree. Things change. I have heard the the 2016 interior is pretty plain. Mine is a 2016 and is not plain. It's build date is 5/22/15 and is a 2016 380TH.

For what it's worth, we put in our order for a Momentum 328M in early March. We were told that it will be titled as a 2016 but will be built like a 2017. The leather choices changed for example. I'm anxious to find out what other things have changed. A factory rep we talked with at the RV show said Momentums are currently running about 6 weeks from order queuing to ship. As for the 2016 vs 2017, it will obviously have a little less resale value several years down the road when we trade it in, but we'll save every year on Colorado's steep RV property taxes too.

UPDATE: We have been told that since the build date for our 328M occured after 1-April, it will be built and titled as a 2017 after all. I'm to the point now that I'll just wait to see the paperwork at the dealer.
