Happy New Year GD owners- and soon to be owners! So,other than the 2nd annual gathering, what are everyone's plans for travel in 2015?

Happy New Year!

We have reservations to spend February in Florida. That will be a 5 or 6 week trip.

We are planning to remodel our kitchen/den at home, so will probably spend a couple of weeks at a local campground (to escape polyurethane and paint fumes) this spring.

We have reservations for the informal get together at Anchor Down in June.

I have yet to plan our summer trip to escape the heat and humidity in Virginia Beach. We might head west, as we haven't been to Glacier or Washington or Oregon. If we stay closer to home it will be to upstate NY to visit family and probably the Thousand Islands or Finger Lakes. Once we decide on the summer trip, will know if the rally fits in on the way home.

Maybe we'll see more Grand Design rigs on the road this year.

March - Lake Roosevelt AZ - Fishing the spring bass spawn.
April - Florence AZ - Country Thunder Music Festival
May - Big Lake AZ - Trout fishing
May - Great Basin NP Nevada - Sight seeing
May - Salt Lake City UT - Grand Daughter's HS graduation
June/July - Yellowstone NP, Glacier NP, Flaming Gorge Reservoir, Western U.S. GD get together?
After that, I haven't the foggiest idea.

March - Louisiana to see the grandkids
April - Myrtle Beach - Atlanta Georgia area
May - Shenendoah Mountains
June - Anchor Down Get together
July - Herkimer Diamond Mines in Herkimer New York
August - Turning Stone Casino - Rome New York
August - Grand Design Rally
September - Hickory Ridge RV Resort (great golf course), RV show in Hershey PA
October - Halloween at Hagerstown - Fall Foilage in Shendoah Mountains
November - Williamsburg Christmas Town
Am also considering a trip for Christmas down to Louisian to see the grandkids again.

That is what I have planned right now and will probably add to it along the way

North GA mountain campground will reopen on March 1st. Plan on going every other week.
side trips to Lake Lanier Islands campground and Stone Mountain Park campground when school's out.

We've also got a lake house that we have to maintain and visit--across town from our main residence.

Plans so far:

March - Jacksonville, Fl
April - Destin, Fl.
April/May - RV Dreams Rally Sieverville, Tn
June - Anchor Down get together
June - Charleston, SC
August - Grand Design Rally
September - Michigan (UP)

Steve

Already on the road to Florida for January, hopefully Washington DC for the cherry blossoms in April. Some Michigan trips this summer, Mears specifically with family in August and then around to Chicago to see the Tigers play the Cubs. We'll try to get to the Rally this year as we missed the inaugural.

this is our 1st year so we are planning a few local 4 -6 hour road trips on the weekend over nights before we had out on some other adventure. Plus we are not fully retired just yet.

Currently on our NE AL, & Southern MS 2 week trip.
April - Rainbow Springs SP, FL
May - Cruise to Jamaica, Cozumel. (I'd rather be camping) :)
June - Anchor Down get together
Dec - Back to NC mountains
And many more local trips yet to be planned.

We hope to come out of storage in mid to late March.
At least a couple of 5-day trips to Bethany Beach, Delaware in April & May.
14+ day trip to Branson, Missouri (with pauses in Kentucky and hopefully the Anchor Down, Dandridge, TN mini-rally) in June.
Then we'll be focusing on getting the Sticks & Bricks abode on the market in July.
If that goes very well (or very bad), we'll make the 2015 GDRV rally in Elkhart in late August.
Hope to squeeze in Natural Bridge and Shenandoah Valley, Virginia in late summer.
A local Halloween weekend w/the grandkids in October with a couple more Bethany Beach trips in early fall.
Then, if the S&B home is sold, we'll do our first Florida Snowbird caper in the winter.

Looks like GD will well represented throughout the year and covering a lot of territory ! We will be in Washington,Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Canada, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and up and down the coast of California. We've certainly found that the Reflection is a comfortable way to travel. Have a great 2015 and safe travels to everyone!

It's North to Alaska for us.

Make sure to give us trip report and that goes for everyone. It's really nice to read about your adventures, which may also be helpful for future travelers. Some of us won't be able to attend second annual GD gathering but it is very nice to see pics and reports from those that are able to be there!

We'll be doing last years cancelled trip west. AZ,UT,CO,WY, SD and where ever else the wind blows us. It'll be modified a little from last years with a stop at Jasper NP added on. Now to decide on a route.
The plan is to be leaving mid June and returning back to MI after a stop at the GD rally in IN late Aug

I always said that next time I bought a new car, I'd just pick it up at a dealership "out west" and drive home one way. I've never kept that promise to myself.

It's just a shame that we have to drive 850 miles west before there's much interesting to see--western OK. And going north and west through the midwest is just not that pretty--unless you're a farmer.

OK, plans so far:

Jan: we hope to crash a local beach State campground where our best friends are camping to see if there have been any cancellations. Fingers crossed!
Jan: 12 - 15 at San Clemente State Beach
Feb: 12 - 15 at KOA Chula Vista, CA
Mar: 12 - 15 at Death Valley, CA
Apr: 20 - 24 at Carlsbad State Beach
May: open!
June/Jul: Oregon Coast for 2 weeks
Jul: Our time share in Cabo San Lucas
Aug - Nov: We will leave early August for our cross country RV trip with no real time table 3 or 4 months for sure.

We travel frequently with 2 to 3 other couples so whenever someone feels the itch, we go but usually we are camping 2 times per month at least.

We're leaving for Quartzsite, Az in two weeks for a 10 day stay. We'll get home just in time for Jim to have knee replacement surgery. He's optimistic his recovery will be fast and uneventful.

As soon as he's able (he's thinking May... I'm doubtful) we will be leaving for the Grand Design service department in Bristol, In. for repairs on Tudee due to an accident last summer.

After the repairs to Tudee are complete we will be heading up to Banff National Park and maybe Calgary for the annual Stampede if our timing allows. No plans after that except heading home through Montana, South Dakota (Sturgis again, if we're around for bike week) and Wyoming. Utah has lots of National Parks that just beg to be explored and is something on our bucket list.

Who knows where we'll wander to... just have to be back to California before the snow flies and Thanksgiving! :) Every year we spend a week at Thanksgiving on Camp Pendleton Marine Base at Del Mar beach with family.

Wishing all of the GD family members safe travels! See ya on the road! :D

Kathy and Jim!
Just to let you know--I had a total knee replacement on Oct. 25th. My doc said I was the poster child for knee replacement! I have done terrific! I was on the walker for about a week and the cane for maybe 5 days. I refused after that. I was determined to keep going which I think is the key. Be faithful on the PT rehab. I am sure that helped me immensely. Good luck! If you have any questions just give me shout!

Thanks for your comments Sandi. It's great to hear that your recovery is going well. Jim usually heals fast but has never been too happy about PT. I'll tell him about your success with PT! If we have any questions I will be in contact with you. :)

As soon as I'm sure he will be OK I will be scheduling rotator cuff shoulder repair for myself. My surgeon says my recovery will take longer than Jim's but I'm determined not to let it stop me from traveling. :)
