A bit of a unique situation. A family member wants to purchase a new or gently used Grand Design 5th wheel. They plan to purchase a 3/4 or 1 ton truck, possibly a dually to tow. But before doing anything they wanted to rent prior to buying. The issue is they have no 5th wheel tow experience and want to rent with the accompanying truck for a weekend. Does anyone know if something like this exists?

I've been looking today on RV Share and Outdoorsy. There isn't much for GDs on there and the ones I reached out to all said they would deliver, or it could be picked up, but their truck isn't available, even at an extra cost. No problem. I guess we're trying to figure out if anyone in the New England area rents HD trucks with the 5th wheel hitch already included OR rents the combo so they could rent the entire rig for the weekend, probably go to a campground 60-90 mins away to get a feel for driving it and then return it on Sunday.

They've owned Class A's & C's over the years, but now want a 5th wheel and are not considering TT options. All ideas or suggestions welcomed. Thanks for reading.

Renting both from the same rental person/company may be a tall order. It's highly doubtful they will find either together and a truck with a hitch installed from a non rv related rental company is another not likely scenario.

Good luck and let us know if anything turns up.

When we bought we had no prior 5th wheel experience just jumped in head first

Like Marcy, we just dove into the 5th wheel world. Perhaps they could rent a 5er that would be delivered to a campground. They wouldn't get to drive, but at least would get a taste of 5th-wheel living.

I know there is a dealer in S Florida that rents trucks to tow fifth wheels. So if there is one there I figure there are others elsewhere.

Consider renting a truck from one place and an RV from another place (Outdoorsy).
