Any recommendation for a full hookup campground near San Simeon, CA? I'm not much of a state park guy and don't mind paying for a nicer resort type place. We plan to visit the Hearst Castle and meet up with friends from SF.

Thanks!

If you’re a veteran, there’s a great little park at Camp San Luis Calif National Guard base.

Most, if not all, of those base RV parks are for active duty, or retired veterans only. Run of the mill veterans need not apply.
Not to worry about this one, dozen hashmarks are not required at CSL. :)

I had Googled it, and I came up with the following: "Slo is open to all dod, active duty, retired, and 100% disabled." Like I said, not open to run-of-the-mill veterans.

Flying Flags in Buellton is very nice and very close to Solvang but I think it’s about 90 minutes away. There’s another Flying Flags near Pismo but I’ve never been there

The nicest park around there is about 40 mile away in Paso Robles The name is Cava Robles RV resort. RV Resort in Paso Robles, CA - Sun Outdoors Paso Robles
That is a nice place.

@brandtb1919 Paso Robles has several decent RV parks and their downtown is becoming quite the place for food and wine. The drive from there to Hearst Castle is decent. Since you are planning to meet up with friends from SF, you might also want to consider something a little more centralized. We just spent four nights at Yanks RV Resort in Greenfield last weekend. The park is very nice but there isn’t much to do in the surrounding area. That would make your drive to Hearst Castle longer, but land you closer to the Bay Area.

Good to know, this seems like the best area distance wise for me. I did see that the Sun Outdoors park has a limit of 2 dogs. That would be a problem for me.

Thanks for the feedback.
