Where's the radio?

Just picked up our new 22MLE. After getting it home and playing with it a bit my wife (music lover) asked "where's the radio?". Took a few minutes of looking around to realize that there isn't one. Never even thought about it when purchasing the trailer in the showroom. When did GD stop installing radios? Anyone installed one and outside speakers? I figure we'll probably just use a portable bluetooth speaker but am curious what others have done.

I would assume you have a Rockford Fosgate stereo like this pic somewhere. Screenshot_20230907_175830_Chrome.jpg

We have a 2023 22MLE, assuming yours is a 2024. Our radio is above the control panel that is in the cabinet on the left side of the TV. We have not been in a 2024 so I don't know if that was changed from 2023.

There are no radio's on 2024 model Imagines.

Most people do stream their music now, and a good Bluetooth speaker will outperform the crap stock speakers.

My 2023 2970RL came with a Furrion DV7200 so it may as well have come with no radio. It's a serious piece of crap and it never gets turned on. I would like to get the TV going through the speakers in the ceiling but even that doesn't work. It's a serious piece of garbage.

This is definitely the correct answer. Our '21 22RBE's interior and exterior speakers are not worth using.

A $100 JBL bluetooth speaker is a massive improvement over the garbage they were putting in trailers. I'd rather they come without and give one less spot for water intrusion on the exterior.

We picked up a 2023 22MLE in March. It came with the Furrion radio/stereo, which as before mentioned, is worthless and will be replaced it with something. Just hasn't worked up the priority list yet. Could not get it to run TV sound through the speakers as we could with our previous camper, a Salem Hemisphere. So, I added a Bose 'tv speaker' sound bar, which is ok, but would still prefer to get the overhead speakers to work (although they'll need to be replaced as well) for better coverage. If it didn't come with a stereo.....did it come with speakers???

Agree with others, it's better not to have the garbage units they install. Our 2022 MLE had one and it was terrible. Our 23 LDE also has one and it worse than the last one. I also hate the outside speakers because the neighbors end up hearing it better than the people sitting below the speakers. Better to just get a Bluetooth speaker that can be set and directed at the listeners rather than bother others.

I know my 2018 TT is way older, but the radio was also a DVD player that played through the tv and speakers inside. Did GD do away with the DVD players also?

Yes. Our 2022 MLE had the DVD player and TV that played through the stereo. Our 2023 LDE has the stereo without a DVD player, and the TV will not play through it even though it has the connection for it. But it also has a USB option that does not play or charge when the iphone is connected to it. Both stereos/speakers sound horrible of course. Sounds like for 2024, at least some models have done away with the stereo and speakers altogether.

Huh. We have a 2021 and I'm pretty easily annoyed by crappy AV equipment, but LOVE the setup in ours. Sure, the components could be higher end, but the 1080p TCL Roku is great (wireless display, so can use as second monitor for laptop) and love the app (I never say that, and it took me a while to figure out it was the key to BT sound output), muting the speaker and streaming the audio through my phone to BT headphones, so I can have background on while working and not disturb my wife. It was odd they didn't put in a $2 wire to connect the headphone jack on the TV to the RCA jacks for AUX2 on the back of the Jensen DVD head unit, but four screws and done. The Jensen has BT input, too, so anything you want from your phone through the speakers. Outside speakers aren't overwhelming, but I'm not one to force my musical tastes on my neighbors, so adequate. Inside speakers are fine, too.

The only thing that's a bit annoying in the trailer OEM features (other than the crappy Chinese tires that ripped up my skirt, and the dumb use of PEX fittings to join PEX to hose in the plumbing) is the thermostat sensor being in the Furrion AC. Even the relocation kit use doesn't fix the weird triggering of the furnace. Otherwise, golden! :D

^^^^ Agree, the Jensen stereo and speakers are good enough for us.

I replaced the Fusion stereo (if you can call it that) with a Jensen. So far it's been great. Added a Bose soundbar for the tcl tv, which has been ok, and ran an optical line, using an analog converter, to the Aux (Aux 2) connection on the Jensen. Now I can run tv sound through the Jensen and replaced the ceiling speakers with some upgraded Pioneers. The tcl tv is ok for now, I'm using all of its outputs, for sound, blu-ray player, and Wally satellite receiver.....although on our last trip to Tucson we didn't even take our satellite dish, as we ended up streaming everything.
