Didn't notice till I went to open the window over the dinette the window won't open. The seal that the window slides in looks collapsed like it got hot at the top of the window.

1st, is that a seal I need to go to Grand Design to get?
2nd, difficult to replace? IE, have it fixed by an RV repair place or can it be a do it your self deal?

My DIY level is fairly high. So far on this trailer since we bought it end of July. I put the bunks back in, rebuilt the external "kitchen" prior owner took all apart. Finished the solar system up in it that he didn't finish. Replaced the non-working radio with a Android based 9" screen with in in/out switch. And added an under-chassis Lippert tire mount/storage deal I got from a friend.

I have it ready to hit the road, but it'd be nice to open that on window.

Cheers and thank you for any help.

Bryan

My guess is you may not find a seal. In the owners packet you should have a sheet with all the component manufacturers with phone numbers. You might have better luck that way. You could try GD but the rally is this week and usually all hands are there so who ever is manning the phones might not get back to you quickly.

Yeah, I did get what looks like a build sheet? Rally?

Actually, the seal material on most of the RV's are pretty standard. You can do a quick search on Amazon to find RV Window Seal and see if one matches. You can definitely do that yourself. If the window is "frozen" in place, I doubt that's the seal unless it is really wedged in there. I posted recently about our stuck window and it turned out that either we shut it too hard and wedged it in with the screen or too much grit from dirt roads wedged it into place. As someone suggested, I just worked the screen side to side and up and down, then tried the window. It took a bit of effort as the screen barely moved but as I got that to move I was then able to pull the slider open. I pulled the screen out and cleaned all the tracks well and replaced. Haven't had an issue since. You can also use a dry lubricant or slide seal conditioner in those tracks and that helps lubricate the plastic tracks to slide better. Good luck!

When I looked up under the valence deal, I can see a section of the window seal guide that seems kinked? IE, the section the window slides in has collapsed. I called the local Grand Design dealer, and they told me they have the seal on order, they sell it by the foot, or for about $110 they can replace it for me. That tells me it must be pretty simple to do?
