Hi All -
We have a 2023 Grand Design Solitude GK
When this 5th wheeler was ordered, we ordered it with 'tinted' dual pane windows. The salesman assured us that after dark, when the inside lights were on, that nobody would be able to see inside.
I know, we should NOT have listened to the salesman and accomplished a little research on window tinting before ordering the coach. Hind sight mostly seems 'more better' were - usually!!
As we get ready to travel for the 2024 season, it was decided to tint the bedroom, main cabin (2) and rear windows. We were quoted by a third party a price for the tinting that seemed affordable to us.
Today, while out to lunch with a friend of mine and explaining what were going to have done to the 310, he asked me if we were going to have the inside or outside of the windows tinted?
I was kinda dumbfounded. I really had not given that question a thought. I kinda thought the outside would be tinted, but then after some thought, both of our Super Duties have have aftermarket tinted windows and of course those windows are tinted on the inside.
So my question is to anyone that has had their coaches windows tinted by an aftermarket party, what side should be tinted?
A quick Google search indicates that RV windows can be tinted on either side.
For a thought for answers, our Solitude resides, when not in use, in a heated RV garage. It is only outside when traveling and the couple of days before and after trips for trip preps and cleanups. Then back into barn it goes.
What do you-all think??
thanks for reading and for any response.
Respectfully - J.J.

There are concerns when tinting double pane windows, whether RV or house. The coating can cause the gas between the panes to get too hot and damage the seals.

If you can identify the manufacturer of the panes, it would be worth your while to check with them.

I think you may find the level of tint required for privacy at night is such that you might as well close the shades.

Where they guy went wrong was telling you that you wouldn't be able to see through the tinted windows.

They are all tinted glass from the factory.

Usually, tint goes on the inside of the windows, but I wouldn't be so quick to tint them as jkwilson noted, it can warp the divider and allow moisture into the gap between the panes.

Use the blinds if you need black out windows.
