Hey all Winegard carryout dish owners. I just got a Carryout G3 and connected it to my trailer. It works fine, but I noticed that when it starts searching for the satellite it make a noise like gears grinding for a second, followed by a loud click or thwack sound. This only seems to happen when it starts the satellite search when I power it on.

Is this sound normal, or is this something I should be concerned about?

Thanks

My Pathfinder does the same. I have had the cover off and after watching it I've decided that it does that to kind of orient itself; kind of the way it finds it's maximum (or minimum?) travel points.

Thanks Traveldawg, that’s good to know. I guess this normal. I even found a mention of it in the user manual.
