My wife and I are new to camping and will be pulling our Imagine 24BSE from Michigan to Florida in a few weeks. The standard route is I75 however I am concerned with winter driving through the mountains. Is there a good alternate route we can take that avoids the mountains? Thanks!

If your travel times are flexible, pick some dates with warmer weather and no precipitation expected.

Our DOT is really good about trying to keep mountain passes open on both sides of the Shenandoah Valley, but it takes time during heavier snows.

It is a big plus you are traveling an interstate route, as those are the main priority.

We've done the I75 South route every year for over 10 years and have never had an issue. That said we also check the weather forecast along the route to be sure there isn't one of the Alberta clippers barreling along the midwest. We leave this coming Tues, wave if you pass us.

We went to Central Florida via I65, Hwy 231, I10, and Florida’s Turnpike from the Nashville area. Added about 75 miles to the route, but we did avoid Atlanta.

We leave this coming weekend from SE Pa and heading to Daytona for the NASCAR race. We travel with 2 other RVs and watch the weather to decide what day is best to leave, we also travel mostly on the interstate and no mountains to worry about on our route.
