Won’t Charge with Generator

I installed a Renogy 2000w inverter with automatic transfer and a Renogy shunt. Battery is a 280ah. When I plug in to shore power the battery monitor/shunt shows that the system is charging. Shut also works properly when the solar panels are connected. When I plug into my new Pulsar 4,000 watt generator it does not show an income charge and the battery monitor/shut starts to flash. According to the manual, a flashing monitor/shut display indicates that the shunt is wired backwards. I know that this in not the case and everything works fine when it is not on the generator. The generator has a switch for 50 or 60 Hertz. It is currently at 50. Any ideas for proper generator charging?

not sure of your entire system but I have a Progressive EMS and Xantrex inverter/charger. neither like the generator because of a "floating ground" error. I used one of THESE to fool the EMS and Charger to think there is no longer a floating ground. If you look it up you can make one also.
Hope this helps,
Brian

Thank you. I will give it a try.

When I wired mine, I saw a post that had me wire my transfer switch so that it pulled in with shore power.

No shore power it's ready for generator.

Shore power pulls my transfer relay in and it then connects power to my panelboard (and my converter produces 12v). No shore power connects the circuit to my inverter (and turn the 12v converter circuit breaker off).

Is it an inverter/charger? Mine is a Victron Multiplus II 3000 watts 120v X2 that I monitor and can operate via Bluetooth. It has a setting where I can change the amount of amps that I am putting in. When I plug in at a park it will take 50 amps, when I plug into my generator, which is only a 3500 watts generator and has an output of only about 26 amps, I need to change it in the Bluetooth app or it won't work (see pic)..also when I plug in at home it trips the breaker. Anyway, possibly you have this capability but are just unaware?
