On the XLS 22MLE is the backup camera power connection always on or controlled by the running lights? When I searched some posts indicate that the camera power is always on and in others that it is controlled by the running lights from the truck. I was not able to find any 22MLE specific posts.

Besides the rear camera I have side view cameras I am going to install and would like to be consistent between all three in how they are powered. If the camera is always on I will tap 12V and install a power switch in the pass-through. Otherwise if the camera is powered by the running lights I will just tap into the side running lights I'm replacing as part of the side view cameras.

On my 2018 Imagine 2150RB, it's controlled by the battery connect switch. I don't know if this is a mod someone did (we bought used) or if that was factory. I also heard that many are running-lights based, so it may just be a matter of looking for the power light in the different scenarios to determine.

On ours (bought new), it's powered by the TV lights. If I leave my headlights on auto, the camera will only come on once I start driving. If I put the headlights on, the camera comes on. Once I disconnect the truck, it's goes off.
Hope this helps

Similar on our model year MLE. You need to turn the running lights on in the TV to power the camera.
