Xls 23 lde

I don't have a Chevy, but I tow an LDE. I will tell you that the white sticker numbers on the trailer will probably not be completely correct. On our shakedown trip, we were about 90% loaded (one battery, 2 propane tanks, gear and food) and we were sitting at 5,750 lbs (if I remember) from our CAT scale stop. I thought that something was wrong....How could I be just a couple hundred pounds over the posted empty weight?? So, I called GD and they explained to me that the white sticker weights were average weights for the model and recommended that I continue to do what I did....weigh it at a licensed scale center.

Two things to keep in mind.....at least in my case, I will run out of payload faster than the other weight limits. Also, your hitch weight will be much more than the posted hitch weight.

Finally, some owners travel with full water tanks.....not me, my set runs the best with about 1/4 fresh and 5 gallons in the black tank.

You will love this unit....we are a retired couple and this layout is absolutely perfect for us. By the way, be prepared to be frustrated with the sliding barn doors. It's a model thing. Good luck!

Interesting, we like our barn doors. ?**♂️

Curious what frustrates you about the barn doors. Do they not work correctly?

Hi All. Well we did it, we traded in our Jayco24BH and are buying a 2024 XLS 23LDE. Taking delivery in about two weeks after the latest snow melts. The ladies really liked the floor plan. I like the recliner's.
I'm having them add another 180 watt solar panel. I'm going to add a shunt battery monitor system. I will use my dual AGM 12 volt batteries and also add a connection by the batteries for a solar plug in panel. I'm adding a battery shut off right on the battery case. G.D. added a solar shut off that Jayco didn't have I had to add my own. I think Jayco paid more attention to the solar prep.
I'm apprehensive about the Schwintek slide system we never had one before just the electric through the frame slide. Their suspension looks a little undersized.
We emptied out out last camper, wow have we been hauling around a lot of unnecessary stuff.
A couple of short trips then headed to Alabama March 30th a long shake down cruise. Wish us luck. Bob

Congrats and enjoy!
One of the biggest problems with Schwintek slides is getting the motors out of alignment. The way to combat that is to make sure you hold the button until the motors "amp out". After it stops moving keep holding the button for a few seconds. You'll hear the motors stop and cutoff. Don't let go of the button because it "sounds" like the slide is all the way out or in; always push it until the motors amp out.

Just joined the forum, so a month late in responding. Can totally relate to discovering how much unnecessary stuff accumulates after a few years. We just moved into our 23lde. I was worried about storage, but after shedding the unneeded stuff we were hauling around we had room to spare.

We are also towing with a half-ton with weight distribution and sway control...so far so good. Taking a big trip this weekend so we will have a much better feel. The rig is well within our tow and payload numbers.

How was your shake down cruise?
