Here's a little device beer lovers might find handy for camping. I bought a cooler that holds 2 one gallon growlers. It uses food grade CO2 O.D. threaded cartridges. I bought a 40 pack with free shipping for $40. A cartridge will last for a couple of gallons. Tip, when you get down to the last couple of glasses remove the tap and pour them (it saves CO2). Tastes just like fresh draft!

I had no idea this thread would be so popular. Enjoyed hearing from fellow home brewers and those who appreciate craft beer.

Brewed IPA Batch #16 a couple of weeks ago (this thread got me inspired :) ) and took a few pictures of the process. I have a batch of Pale Ale in the fermentor that I brewed Sat.
This is the 1/2 gallon starter I make three days before brewing. I use one smack/pack. I use some of the brew water to make it.

Here it is on tap. Should be ready by Thanksgiving. I will quality check it Wed night just to be sure :) I make a magnetic tag that I place above the taps that have specific information about the brew for those craft beer connoisseurs that want to know. If you double click on the image it should blow up enough to read.

I guess I have been bitten by the bug big time..... Picture of my first batch in my "not totally complete" new home brewery. Should have been around 15 gallons, got 13 gallons. Not bad for the first batch in the 20 gal system !!!!

Well even though it's 25F out and had to clear some snow (I got tired of waiting for it to melt  ) I'm brewing my first batch of Blue Moon. I had been searching/trying to formulate a recipe for the last 4 years or so. Last Sat. I spent a few hours and finally found a brewer that was working at the original brewery in 1995 that made Blue Moon. I used his basic recipe with some slight mods. If anyone is interested I can post the recipe. This beer is for the DW (I'm an IPA guy :) ).

Cheers,
Kevin

Hi Kevin,
Bruce brews and prefers the IPAs and hoppier ales as well. I prefer the wheats. I’d love for him to try your recipe! He’ll make a wheat recipe and add lemon verbena that I grow for him (for gardeners out there, lemon verbena smells like lemon drops while lemon balm smells like furniture polish and lemon thyme can be a bit “medicinal” smelling). He has a couple of beer boxes with cartridges. My fave is Le Chouffe, poured in the appropriate vessel (snifter-like). Omegang is not too far from us, but this year we’re off to NH to visit Throwback and Smuttynose.
(Oh, and Ithaca is right in our backyard-it’s really expanded in recent years!)
N:)
